“Everything flows out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum-swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right, is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates”

— The Principle of Rhythm, The Kybalion

The Pendulum Swings

The pendulum swings.

Seasons come and go along this pendulum.

The sun rises and falls along this pendulum.

Waves comes and go along this pendulum.

Empires rise and fall along this pendulum.

The pendulum swings. This is law.

There are inevitable highs and lows. There are inevitable mountaintops and valleys.

The highs cannot exist without the lows, and the lows cannot exist without the highs. The mountaintops cannot exist without the valleys, and the valleys cannot exist without the mountaintops.

They are 2 sides of the same coin.

This is a natural law of the universe.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

— Newton’s Third Law

Everything that exists is subject to the law. And we are no exception.

Don’t Get Stuck in the Valleys

Our experience of swinging from one end of the pendulum to the other is standard, it is part of what we signed up for with this human experience.

So give yourself grace. It’s okay.

What constitutes how far the pendulum swings into the valleys and how long we remain in these inevitable valleys is dependent on how we navigate ourselves when we enter them.

The driving factor which navigates our vessels through this physical realm (within which we experience these highs and the lows) is our emotions.

Emotions are simply ‘energy in motion’. They are both the GPS and the engine.

Our emotional state is the largest contributor to our frequency. And our frequency is the largest contributor to our experience here in the physical realm.

The thing about frequency is that it is energetically stacked (i.e., it compounds and multiplies). So, if we choose to wallow in emotions of guilt, disappointment, frustration, etc. whenever we inevitably (and temporarily) fall off, these emotions act as glue which keeps the pendulum in the valley longer than it needs to be there.

Recognise that you have to fall. It’s part of the human experience. Just don’t stay down and feel bad about it when you do. Because by staying down and indulging in those emotions, you only prolong your blessings.

“The only reason you have fallen is because you have risen.”

Nero Knowledge

It is normal to fall. The very fact that you are able to recognise that you have fallen is an indicator of your growth prior to the fall.

So, (as stupidly simple as it sounds) don’t wallow in those negative emotions of guilt, disappointment, frustration, etc. because you are only allowing the frequencies they emit to compound.

Instead, give yourself grace, and understand that this is part of the experience. The very reason you feel the negative emotions is because you were doing good. So, focus on the wins and successes (no matter how big or small).

Just as the frequencies of negative emotions compound, so do those of positive emotions. So, focus your emotions onto (i.e., centralise your energy towards) the wins and successes and allow the positive frequencies to stack to pull the pendulum away from the valleys and back to the mountaintops.

The pendulum will swing either way. When you understand the principle of rhythm you gain the wisdom to and self-awareness to use this principle to your advantage, rather than being used by it. Use the valleys to grow and swing to even higher mountaintops.

Ecclesiastes 3:1–4

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
